Frequently asked questions
How much does meo cost?
Section titled “How much does meo cost?”Solo costs $35 a month, Team $89 a month and Enterprise $249 a month, plus taxes based on your billing address. Annual billing costs 20% less. See the pricing page or, in meo, the Plans page.
Each plan includes:
- Solo: 1 user (up to 3 with additional users), 1 space and 10 GB of storage;
- Team: unlimited users, 10 spaces and 50 GB;
- Enterprise: unlimited users, 20 spaces and 200 GB.
If you need more, add them: an extra space costs $20 a month, and a 50 GB storage block $10 a month. There is no fee per client: your contacts, your requests and your signatures are not counted.
Do you pay for each user?
Section titled “Do you pay for each user?”Only on the Solo plan. Solo includes 1 user, and you can add up to 2 additional users at $10 per month each (20% less on annual billing), so 3 people at most. On Team and Enterprise, users are unlimited: adding a colleague does not change your bill.
Each person still has their own account. meo counts as users the members of your team who have access to the organisation or to a space; your clients and the participants in your requests are not among them. See Invite a user into the organisation or into a space.
Is there a free trial?
Section titled “Is there a free trial?”Yes. The free trial lasts 30 days, with every feature, and needs no credit card. It starts when you create your organisation; a person you invite joins your organisation without starting a trial. See Create your meo account.
During the trial, Settings > Billing shows the day of the trial and its end date. If you have not chosen a plan yet, meo emails the owner of the organisation 7 days, 3 days and 1 day before the trial ends.
Which plan should you choose?
Section titled “Which plan should you choose?”The one that covers your number of users and spaces: the features are the same on every plan. Only the Entreprise and Sur mesure plans add, on request, sending emails from your organisation’s own domain; the Sur mesure plan also adds single sign-on.
- Solo: you work alone, or with 3 people at most, in one space.
- Team: there are more than 3 of you, or you separate your files into several spaces, up to 10.
- Enterprise: you need more spaces (20) or more storage (200 GB).
The Plans page (Settings > Billing, then Choose a plan or Change plan) helps you decide: it shows your current usage and the estimated total of each plan with that usage. If a lower plan would cost you less, meo points it out. You can change plans at any time.
Do you offer discounts or promotions?
Section titled “Do you offer discounts or promotions?”Yes. Annual billing costs 20% less than monthly billing, for the plan and for additional resources alike. If you received a promo code or a partner code, for example from your professional group, enter it on the Plans page with the link Do you have a promo or partner code?.
A code and the free trial do not stack. If you use the code during the trial, your subscription starts that day and the first invoice is issued right away. You can also keep your trial: meo shows until when the code stays valid.
Which plan does the free trial give you?
Section titled “Which plan does the free trial give you?”None: the trial is a period of its own, with every feature, up to 15 users, 20 spaces and 200 GB of storage. You choose your plan during the trial or at the end, based on what your organisation uses.
On the Plans page, meo fits each plan to your usage. With Solo, it adds the additional users your team needs; above 3 users, Solo is not available until you remove some. If you have more spaces than the chosen plan includes, the extra spaces become additional spaces, billed with the plan.
What happens at the end of your free trial?
Section titled “What happens at the end of your free trial?”If you chose a plan during the trial, nothing stops: your subscription takes over and your first payment is charged that day.
Otherwise, your organisation is locked. You can no longer create contacts or requests, nobody can upload documents any more, neither your team nor your clients, and the Privacy tools are disabled, including your public privacy portal.
Your data is kept for 60 days. Choose a plan within that time to get everything back. After 60 days, the organisation and its data are permanently deleted; your meo login stays active.
Can you extend your free trial?
Section titled “Can you extend your free trial?”The trial lasts 30 days, and the application does not let you extend it. You can, however, choose your plan without waiting: your trial continues until its end date, nothing is charged before then, and you lose no days. Two exceptions: with a promo or partner code, or less than 48 hours before the trial ends, the payment is charged right away.
You can then cancel your subscription at any time; your access stays active until the end of the paid period. And if your trial ends before you decide, your data is kept for 60 days: choose a plan within that time to get everything back.
Can you add spaces beyond your plan’s limit?
Section titled “Can you add spaces beyond your plan’s limit?”Yes. Each plan includes a number of spaces (1 on Solo, 10 on Team, 20 on Enterprise), and you can add additional spaces, each billed on top of the plan.
Add them in Settings > Billing, Additional resources section, with the Manage button on the Additional spaces row. If you create a space once the limit is reached, meo offers to add one. The addition is charged right away, prorated for the current period.
To remove an additional space, delete the space that occupies it: the number adjusts on its own at the next renewal. See Create a space.
How do you pay for your subscription?
Section titled “How do you pay for your subscription?”By card, online. When you choose a plan, meo takes you to the secure payment page of Stripe, its payment provider. The amount is then charged automatically every month or every year, depending on the billing you chose, and taxes are added based on your billing address.
To change your card or your billing address, open Settings > Billing and click Manage, in the Payment method section: Stripe’s secure billing portal opens. After a declined payment, the Update card button, at the top of the Billing page, leads to the same place. Only the owner and the administrators of the organisation have access to the Billing page.
When is your first payment charged after the free trial?
Section titled “When is your first payment charged after the free trial?”On your trial’s end date, if you choose your plan during the trial. Nothing is charged before then, and the Billing page shows the date of your first charge. meo also emails you 7 days before that first payment, with the expected amount.
The payment is charged when you order in three cases: you use a promo or partner code, your trial ends in less than 48 hours, or your trial is already over.
Is the price of your plan likely to go up?
Section titled “Is the price of your plan likely to go up?”If the amount of your subscription changes, meo lets you know by email 7 days before the payment, with the expected amount. This reminder also goes out before every annual renewal and before your first payment after the trial. You can then change plans or cancel before the payment date.
The amount of your next renewal is always shown in Settings > Billing, Payment method section. On annual billing, you pay for the year in advance.
Is there a plan for a group of businesses or a franchise?
Section titled “Is there a plan for a group of businesses or a franchise?”Yes, as a group offer. The group receives a partner code; each member enters it on the Plans page and gets the offer’s terms, for example a discount, more included spaces or a lower price per space. Depending on the offer, meo then checks each member’s eligibility.
Before choosing, think about who needs to see what. In a single organisation, users with access to the organisation see every space: that suits branches of the same company. If each member’s clients must stay separate, contact us to choose the right structure. See Organisation access or space access.
Can you switch plans along the way?
Section titled “Can you switch plans along the way?”Yes, at any time: in Settings > Billing, click Change plan.
- An upgrade takes effect right away. You pay today for the new plan, prorated for the rest of the period, minus the unused time on the old one.
- A downgrade takes effect at the next renewal, with no credit or refund. Until then, you keep your current plan, and you can cancel the change from the Billing page.
A downgrade is blocked only towards Solo, above 3 users. Spaces beyond the new plan stay active and are billed as additional spaces. Switching to annual billing is immediate; going back to monthly happens at the annual renewal.
Where do you find your meo invoices?
Section titled “Where do you find your meo invoices?”In Settings > Billing, Invoice history section. It lists your last 12 invoices, with their date, amount and status. The download icon, in the Receipt column, opens the invoice and its receipt.
For an older invoice, click Manage in the Payment method section: Stripe’s billing portal shows your whole history. Only the owner and the administrators of the organisation have access to the Billing page.
How do you check that your subscription is active?
Section titled “How do you check that your subscription is active?”Open Settings > Billing. When your subscription is active, the top panel shows the name of your plan, the Current plan label and the date of the next renewal. If you chose your plan during the trial, a message also gives the date of your first charge.
If that panel still shows Free trial or No active subscription, no plan is in place: click Choose a plan and complete the payment. The Payment overdue label means a payment was declined: update your card with Manage, in the Payment method section.
Can a broker affiliated with a banner subscribe on their own?
Section titled “Can a broker affiliated with a banner subscribe on their own?”Yes. Anyone can create their own meo organisation and choose their plan: signing up requires no link with a banner. A broker who works alone usually chooses Solo.
If your banner or your group has a group offer with meo, enter its partner code on the Plans page. See Is there a plan for a group of businesses or a franchise?
How do you cancel or reactivate your subscription?
Section titled “How do you cancel or reactivate your subscription?”In Settings > Billing, at the bottom of the page, click Cancel subscription, then Continue canceling and Yes, cancel. The cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period; until then, everything works as before. To change your mind before that date, click Reactivate, then Confirm reactivation, in the Subscription canceled panel.
At the end of the period, your organisation is locked: you can no longer create contacts or requests, and nobody can upload documents any more. Your documents can still be downloaded. Your data is kept for 60 days; choose a plan within that time to get everything back. After 60 days, the organisation and its data are permanently deleted.
Can you get a refund?
Section titled “Can you get a refund?”No. The terms and conditions provide no refund: if you cancel, your access stays active until the end of the paid period. For a particular situation, write to our support team at support@documeo.ca.
Does meo pay a commission for recommending or reselling it?
Section titled “Does meo pay a commission for recommending or reselling it?”Not for now. If you would like to recommend or resell meo, write to us through the Contact page: we will discuss it with you.
What happens if your subscription payment fails?
Section titled “What happens if your subscription payment fails?”Your access stays full, and the payment is retried automatically. meo notifies the owner of the organisation by email, and the bottom of the menu shows Payment method needs attention for the owner and the administrators. To settle it right away, click Update card, at the top of the Billing page.
If the invoice stays unpaid for 28 days, the organisation becomes read-only: the menu shows Account in read-only mode, and nobody can create contacts or requests or upload documents any more, neither your team nor your clients. Your documents can still be viewed, downloaded and exported; nothing is deleted.
Full access returns as soon as the invoice is paid.
What happens if you go over your plan’s storage limit?
Section titled “What happens if you go over your plan’s storage limit?”meo never adds storage to your bill on its own. As soon as you go over, your team can no longer upload documents. Your clients and collaborators can still deposit files for 30 days; for the owner and the administrators, the bottom of the menu shows Storage exceeded, with the deadline.
After those 30 days, their deposits are paused: the menu shows Client deposits paused, and the portal tells your client that the deposit space is temporarily full. Your documents stay accessible.
To restore everything, add a 50 GB block (Settings > Billing, Additional resources section), move to a larger plan or get back under the limit by reducing your usage.
Where can you see your plan’s usage?
Section titled “Where can you see your plan’s usage?”In Settings > Usage, under your organisation. The page compares what your organisation uses with what your plan includes, for Spaces, Users and Storage: the included share, the share paid as additional resources and anything over the limit. When you go over, it explains what changes.
The Billing page gives a summary, in the Usage card, with View details. Only the owner and the administrators of the organisation see these two pages.
For a single space, open its settings, Usage tab: it shows the requests of the month, the total storage and the active users of that space.
